Official results out later tonight. A few names to listen for during half time.
Clayton Krol – Shady Side – 2017 – High Point
First team All MSCLA which might not mean much to Pittsburghers now but a 90 points regular season is something to consider…including a 5 goal performance against Seneca Valley in the quarterfinals…two of which scored inside the final thirty seconds of the game to secure the comeback. Krol was an All American in 2016.
Jake Freedlander – Pine Richland – 2018 – Detroit Mercy
The face off weapon was an All American as a sophomore and essentially duplicated his 2016 campaign by winning 285 faceoffs at 77%.
Thomas Hanulak – Pine Richland – 2017 – Seton Hill
Perhaps the most college ready shooter in Pittsburgh, Hanulak scored 56 goals and added 10 assists. The senior was All WPIAL last year.
Connor Brumfield – Mt. Lebanon – 2017 – Ithaca
Point to Brumfield’s regular season performance against Upper St. Clair as his All American moment. The attackman was top option for the Blue Devil offense with over 60 points.
Jack Kairys – North Allegheny – 2017
So athletic and so mean. The Tiger defenseman probably desired the last year as well based on his performance during their playoff run. He earned All WPIAL for those efforts in 2016
Other Names That Could Appear
- Peters Township LSM Nicky Phelps has been incredible during the post season, but coaches who didn’t play Peters in the regular season might not know who he is
- Sewickley’s Ben Mulholland put up 60+ points which is quite remarkable given the team’s record
- North Allegheny’s Alec Vissotski also scooped 100+ groundballs as the primary face off option for the Tigers, if two face off men are awarded then Canon Mac’s Logan Gray actually had a better winning percentage (84%) than Vissotski (71%)
- Richy Myros (Hampton), Alex Culbertson (North Catholic), Calvin Sargent (Moon) all had 70+ point seasons, will AAA coaches vote for them?
Reminder, the coaches vote for 10 All Americans.
