Three Stripes invading North Carolina.
HIGH POINT, N.C.—High Point University today (May 5) announced a new seven-year partnership with adidas. With the new all-school deal, the Portland, Ore., based company will become the official athletic footwear, uniform, apparel and accessory brand of the Panthers and supply all 16 High Point University intercollegiate athletic teams with gear from June 1, 2017 through the 2023-24 academic year.
High Point’s lacrosse team has been wearing Champion apparel, some of the better looking uniforms out there, and using Maverik/Cascade hard goods.
Depending upon when the hard goods contract is up, adidas could be adding another hard goods partner school. Mercer, Vermont, Umass, Quinnipiac, and Sacred Heart are other adidas schools that could eventually be in Three Stripes hard goods. Newly formed D1 St. Bonaventure is an adidas school. The adidas school to watch though is Denver. An adidas rep told us they got back into lacrosse hard goods in part because of the team’s success on a national level. Could Warrior afford to lose Denver?
Update: Add Rutgers to the list of new adidas schools, making the jump July 1
The Portland brand does seem to be very interested in lacrosse. You may recognize a former ACC star on the cover of their 2018 spring catalog.
