Firecracker Ground Balls

The final ground ball instructional video for Thursday comes from South Bend.

One of the earlier films to emerge from Notre Dame.

Assistant Coach Gerry Byrne guides you through our latest NDLU drill, “Firecracker” Ground Balls. This drill focuses on ground balls within a 6v6 situation during a slide and recovery when the interior defensive players go from a help/collapse roll to converging on the “front porch” to box out opponents and escape with GB’s.

How often does this happen in a game? How often do you practice it? We’ve practiced it zero times. We’ll have to find ways to get it into the practice plan so we’re not giving up cheap goals after a rebound.
