MCLA Tournament Prep: Oregon State

Getting you dialed in for the MCLA’s end of year event.

Team: Oregon State

Conference: PNCLL

Seed: 8, automatic qualifier

Projected Seed: 9

1st Round Opponent: Cal Poly

Record Against Tournament Teams: 1-0, defeated Cal Poly

Odds of Winning: 50 to 1

Player to Watch: Junior goalie Nick Widmer made 15 saves for a .750 save percentage against Cal Poly in the regular season. A similar performance likely results in a tournament victory.

OSU has played six games since March 26th. How will the gap in game play impact the Beavers? They have had enough time to tweak the offense since the departure of 6’4″ 245lbs attackman Kevin Cathart, who left the team after the Cal Poly game.

The knock on Oregon State is their strength of schedule so the committee rewarded them with a rematch against a team they defeated 10-5 albeit the aforementioned Cathart played in that game.

Should OSU defeat Cal Poly again they’ll get an opportunity to prove themselves against Grand Canyon.
