Commentary and Theory with a yinzer slant #year9

MCLA Tournament Prep: Cal Poly

Getting you dialed in for the MCLA’s end of year event.

Team: Cal Poly

Conference: WCLL

Seed: 9, at large bid

Projected Seed: out due to Stanford loss

1st Round Opponent: Oregon State

Record Against Tournament Teams: 3-4, lost to Oregon State, Stanford, Chapman, Arizona State, beat Stanford, Westminster, San Diego State

Odds of Winning: 50 to 1

Player to Watch: Senior face off middie John Solomon went 5 of 13 in his first meeting against Oregon State. He has to get to 50% to help out a schizophrenic offense that will score 7 goals on the worst Oregon team perhaps ever and then turn around and drop 19 on Simon Fraser.

Cal Poly’s loss to the Stanford in the WCLL tournament cost them a top 8 seed and bumped Duluth out of the tournament. They’ve lost 2 out of their last 5 games dating back in April 10th. Will the gap in gameplay help or hurt them heading into their first round matchup with a team they’ve already lost to this season?

The good news for Cal Poly, Oregon State attackman Kevin Cathcart has left the program. Cathcart, listed at 6’4″ 245lbs, had 4 goals and 1 assist in the 10-5 win over Cal Poly. It was the last game he played in 2015.
