Updated Bracketology

1. Grand Canyon (SLC AQ) vs. 16. Indiana (GRLC AQ)

2. Chapman (At Large) vs. 15. Texas State (LSA AQ)

3. Arizona State (At Large) vs. 14. Michigan State (CCLA AQ)

4. Westminster (RMLC AQ) vs. 13. Boston College (PCLL AQ)

5. Georgia Tech (SELC AQ) vs. 12. Sonoma State (At Large)

6. Colorado (At Large) vs. 11. Cal Poly (WCLL AQ)

7. Oregon State (PNCLL AQ) vs. 10. San Diego State (At Large)

8. BYU (At Large) vs. 9. Virginia Tech (At Large)

Colorado State’s loss to Colorado combined with Davenport’s loss to Illinois has the Rams as the first out. Recall Davenport beat CSU at the end of March in Michigan. A win over Colorado in the RMLC tournament likely pushes the Rams back into the dance.

Sonoma State takes the last in title. Their loss to Dominican to start the season and a 15-4 loss to Colorado may be in the rearview for the Sea Wolves. They’ve gone 3-1 since the Colorado loss. The loss came against Cal Poly. A run to the WCLL final is necessary to make the tournament as an at large.

If the final spot comes down to a team that couldn’t survive NCAA D2, a team that may have NCAA aspirations, and a more pure MCLA program that hasn’t accomplished anything earth shattering this season, what will the committee choose?

Liberty or Florida State winning the SELC title, not great odds considering the teams face each other in the first round, would be very exciting for the SELC. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech have done enough to get an at large bid. Should either squad fall in the SELC tournament, the conference will send three teams.

Update 2: See comment section regarding Dominican.
